A single goal by Danny Leonard - a stunning free kick that dipped and moved from the moment he struck it - was enough to take all three points back to Wishaw this afternoon moving our 98's up to second in the league table.
The game itself was probably as tight as you could get it. Both sides crowded the midfield area of the park and with defences both looking pretty tight and well organised it was always going to take something special to win the match. Danny Leonards stunning free kick came around the 30th minute mark and it was the main highlight of the first half. In the second half Christy Pearson had to pull off an incredible double save to keep Wishaw in the lead, and at the other end of the park a Jamie McFadyen chip beat the Cadzow keeper all ends up but the ball cannoned off the crossbar and in the ensuing goalmouth scramble two Wishaw players found their efforts on goal blocked.
Our next game is on Thursday at Overtown Park against one of the best sides in our league - Mill United Colts. It should prove to be a real test for our lads so if you're at a loose end please do come along and offer the lads your support.

Blantyre 1 Wishaw Wycombe 2
Two goals from Jamie McFadyen gave Wishaw a hard fought win at Blantyre yesterday afternoon, yet it could all have been so different as Wishaw got off to a slow start. There was no bite in our tackles, we looked off the pace, slow even right from the start of the match.
Indeed it was Blantyre who opened the scoring. Their centre forward had been causing us all sorts of problems but this goal was simple for him. Murray Brown in the Wishaw defence committed himself when it would have been better to jocky, and Kieran Simmons didn't get close enough to put in a challenge and the Blantyre striker gave Christy Pearson no change with a shot from around 12 yards.
Wishaw didn't manage to get back on level terms until midway through the second half when a cross played in from the left was met by the head of Jamie McFadyen. He did well to keep his eye on the ball and not the on rushing goalkeeper and headed past him into the back of the net.
The game swung from end to end but on the 85th minute Wishaw were to get a huge rub of the green that you need to win some tight matches. A long punt from Christy Pearson should have been dealt with by the Blantyre defence. The goalkeeper had come off his line well to boot it clear and his centre half was shielding him however Jamie McFadyen sniffed and opportunity and ran in behind the goalkeeper just as him and his cene half got in each others road. The ball trundled to Jaimie McFadyen and he passed the ball into the empty net to seal the victory.
