Willie and Jamie Team Yellow
Two very exciting games with Villa away at Bothwell on Saturday. Wishaw very strong shooting up the hill in first half did well coming back from a goal behind from strong villa side. Hughes coming on as a sub scored with almost his first touch of ball and settled the nerves. Further goals from Hughes, Redfern, and Inglis gave Wishaw a stong position at the break. Very even second half with most important aspect from Wishaw perspective a further goal and hatrick from Hughes. In second game Redfern found his feet a little bit more with some strong runs and a couple of further goals. Also did well for Waldie's goal. Waldie's goal fully desrved for his hard working and skilful midfield play on the day. Inglis also scored a couple of goals which his strong running and general overall play making this more than well desrved. Today Smith not in amongst the goals but another towering performance. Assessment: this team does great stuff but needs to cut out the mistakes.

I think this better be one of my shorter match reports as this was one of the most inept performances I've seen from our 98's squad in the year we've been playing eleven-a-side football. Quite frankly Mill United were better organised, had better players, and they outclassed and out performed us in every position.

Wishaw Wycombe Wanderers 96's are urgently looking to recruit a new football coach onto their team. No qualifications are required. As you will be coaching children you have to go through a Disclosure process which involves filling out a form and a criminal records check, but Wishaw Wycombe would meet all the costs for this, and the club will also fully fund putting your through coaching courses to develop your skills as far as you want to go. The 98's are away from home this week, playing Mill United at the Bent at Hamilton. Players have been told to meet there at 9.30am wearing their yellow kit. Players are also reminded that you are NOT PERMITTED to wear blade football boots at South Lanarkshire 3g Pitches. Only round moulded stud football boots - like the Puma Kings - or astro grass training shoes are permitted. If you are unsure please bring both your football boots and your training shoes and the coaches will keep you right.
The squad for tomorrows match is as follows

Match report for games vs EK Thistle 21st August 2010
Wishaw played 4 exciting games on Saturday morning against EK Thistle. Playing for first time on grass parks at Pather both teams settled down early to some lovely football. First game of new season brought some teething problems though again mainly in Jamie and Willie's team. Team blue under coaching of David and John had two victories the first fairly straight forward the second very hard fought. Goal scorers on the day Ethan 4, Robbie F and Robbie P 7 between them while Ryan and Lewis also popped up with a goal each. Special mention to Jordan who played a stormer in goal. Team yellow under Jamie and Willie won both games by odd goal in 9 and 13 goal thrillers. Great mention to EK Thistle for contributing to such exciting matches. Special mention to Martin who had easily best game in a wishaw shirt. Scorers marley (7) with remaining 5 goals split between Bailey and Aidan. Across all players from both teams there was great sportsmanship and plenty of hard work and skill.

Training is from 5-7 pm on Friday at the 3G, it is essential that all attend as we play our first game the following Sunday 3/9/10.
Anyone still to return a strip from the Prestwick Tournament please bring it on FRIDAY!!!!!
Remember everyone is welcome to come along to training so if any of the players want to bring a pal they are more than welcome to do so.
CMON THE WISHAE
Tonight training (monday) is 7pm at the 3G parks.
Friday nights training is from 6:15pm to 8pm at Cambusnethan Primary School.
Sunday's game is a home fixture against Hollytown Colts, 9.30am kick off, boys to be there at 9am wearing home kits.
Training tonight is at St Aidans High School starting at 6pm and running through till 8pm. Players have been told to bring footwear for both inside and outside on the grass parks. On Friday we are back at the Sports Centre again. We are on from 6pm - 7pm and will be going on after the 99's on their pitch. Again can I ask that our players all refrain from going onto the 3g pitches until the 99's come off. Please respect the rights of all the other kids there to enjoy their training session uninterrupted.
Sunday's match is a tough game against Mill United at The Bent in Hamilton. Mill United also had a fantastic start to the season yesterday beating Moorlands 3-0 so we really will need to be at our best for this one. Kick off will be at 10am.
I know there is a lot of interest in the other fixtures in our section but it's difficult getting information on a weekly basis. The only other result I know of is that Mill United Colts lost to EKYC but I don't have a scoreline.
The 98's got off to a flying start this season with a deserved, if perhaps hard fought win over a resiliant Aston Villa side.
The match started off brightly enough as Wishaw took an early grip on the match with Josh Payne and Ross Bowman looking a constant threat with their excellent running both on and off the ball and Wishaw's best chance of the early stages came when Josh delivered a good cross into the box, Keiran Smith challenged for the ball with a Villa defender, coming out second best, but the clearance fell for Ross Bowman who fired a well controlled shot low to the keepers right but he managed to get down and save it.
The 97s today lost the 1st league game of the season to the more physical Blantyre team 4-1. A slow start from our boys saw blantyre take advantge of the long ball system by going 3 goals up. Their 4th goal though came from good passing play and an excellent finish. Our concillation came from a good finish from the edge of the box from Paul Kerrigan.
A lesson today for our guys in that as well as trying to play football we have to be able to fight for the ball and adjust to how other teams play. We always try to play football and as a team we will stick to this. Lets hope football is enough in the end!
